Colorful Kitchen Cabinets

When I worked as a furniture photographer for a startup here in the city, unique furniture always appeared in my studio–including some very cool cabinets. I had the opportunity to style refurbished Hoosier and curio cabinets, vintage shelves, and countless IKEA Expedits (people went through them like water and then bought them back).

I was again inspired by one of Justina Blakeney’s spaces–a workspace with a lovely pastel pink curio cabinet full of colorful glasses and dishware, and stacks of geometric pillows on top. It looked amazing in the studio, but it would be a dream cupboard in my future kitchen (I’m always plotting and planning for the day I move into my own place, obviously). Anyway, I wanted to share a few colorful cabinets I think are perfect for brightening up a kitchen:

The dream color. I was smitten with Justina Blakeney’s cabinet when I saw it in her studio. I love how everything around it pops, especially the bits of yellow in the craspedia and the pillows above–and the vintage style glasses inside look just as chic

The dream. Like I mentioned, I was introduced to Hoosier cabinets while photographing furniture. Their multiple compartments were fun to stage with our thrifted dishes and every now and then I’d find a newly painted piece. Given a fresh coat, Hoosiers look adorable in a kitchen–I hope I can find one when the time comes!

Another pink cupboard! As you know, pastel pink is one of my favorites–and it’s a wonderful color on vintage pieces. The cabinet reminds of a Hoosier, but with lovely etched glass that sets it apart and gives it its charm. Definitely a perfect place for serveware storage–it also looks gorgeous next to that huge cactus.
